The Director of Religious Education

Stuart Twite was born and raised in South Dakota where he received B.S. and M.ed. Degrees in education (and taught Lutheran Sunday School). For a time he worked in politics on the state and national levels, both in campaigns and as a staffer. Teaching, however, is his passion and he has taught in public and private schools in South Dakota and Arizona.

For the past six years he has been a stay at home father for his three children (During that time he also served as Sunday School Superintendent in Cornwall, New York.) His love of Unitarian Universalist history began in college and he has been a student of the tradition ever since.

He is married to Carrie (Editor in Chief for English, College division, Houghton Mifflin) and has three children, Molly, Anna and Henry. In addition, stuart serves on the Board for the James Library.
