April 2014
Story Slam on the theme of "Second Chances"
Hosted by Andrea Lovett of Massmouth

Friday, April 11, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

"If you have life experience, you have stories" - Andrea Lovett

Come tell your story! If you enjoy the Moth Radio Hour, "This American Life" or love live storytelling, come tell your 5-minute story on the theme of travel disasters as the James’ first story slam. Hosted by Andrea Lovett of Somerville’s Massmouth, a story slam is a contest of words by known and undiscovered talent.

How it works: Come to the slam with a true, 5-minute or less story that you want to share with the audience. Put your name in the box and Andrea will pull ten lucky participants who will tell their story for the audience and 3 guest judges. Each of the featured stories will be judged on how well it is told, how well it is constructed and how well the story explores, connects and reveals some truth about the theme. There will be laughs, maybe some tears, a cash bar for sure and thoughtful stories told from the heart. Audience members who want to listen to stories are also a must!
