The Collection:
The James Library Center for the Arts includes a small circulating library open to the public. The collection includes current fiction and non-fiction for adults and children.
This "browsing" collection features classics, audio books, bestsellers, and hard-to-find mysteries. The James is a neighborhood reading room open to all with special collections of books about art, music and gardening. A small local history collection is available for on-site research.
- Classics - audiobooks - bestsellers - hard to find mysteries
A Note to Book Groups:
Many local book groups use the James Library and its collections. The librarians are available to assist with reading selections. There are rarely long waits for "hot" titles.

Some History
The James Library Center for the Arts is the oldest continuing free lending library in Norwell. The James is affiliated with First Parish Church of Norwell. It is located on the village green, adjacent to the historic Kent House and First Parish Church. The library stands as one of the finest examples of Victorian architecture in the Norwell Historic District. For a brief history of the library written by Sally Turner read either the Adobe PDF or Word documents.
The James Library Center for the Arts is supported in part by private donations, ticket sales and the First Parish of Norwell.
