COFFEE NEEDS TO BE STARTED BY 9:15!
Food: You will need to provide finger food for approximately 100-150 people or half that amount if you are sharing coffee hour with another family. You will need to buy a half-gallon of half/half for the coffee and a half-gallon of whole milk for the tea table.
To Make the Coffee:
Coffee makers are in the cabinet in the center island.
Fill one large coffee maker with water to the top line-100 cups. Coffee grounds are in the freezer. You will need 12 Cups of regular coffee grounds for this coffee maker.(a one-cup measuring cup is kept in the freezer). Fill the other large coffee maker with water to the 50-cup mark. Use 6 cups of decaf coffee grounds. Plug in the coffee makers and flip the switches on the bottom to ON. NOTE: Never plug both coffee makers into outlets on the same wall.
To Make the Tea:
Under the center Island (where the coffee pots are) there is a 32ounce coffee pot that is for tea water.Fill the pot 2/3 full with cold water and plug it in the wall in the parish hall where the tea is set up. Make sure the top right switch in the fuse box is on-this controls the teapot. Turn on the pot. The water will heat on its own during the service.Teabags, sugar, and stirrers are in the cabinet or on the counter to the left of stove.
Set Up:
Very important! Tables should be set up horizontal to the room. This allows for better use of the space and less congestion at the kitchen door. Cover tables with the tablecloths. Tablecloths can be found in drawers under the counter on the Fogg Parlor side of kitchen. Please use the vinyl cotton-backed tablecloths and please remember to wipe down and dry them before putting back in the drawer.Set out 3 brown trays. Trays can be found in cabinet under counter near Parish Hall door. Place 2 trays on long serving tables for coffee and 1 on the side table near kitchen for tea drinkers. You have a choice of cups: Paper, which are under the single sink on the lower right side or brown ceramic mugs in the lower cabinets on the Parish Hall side of kitchen. Each coffee tray needs cups, cream, sugar, sweeteners, stirrers and coffee pitchers.
The Tea tray needs cups, sugar, sweeteners, stirrers, milk and a basket of tea bags.Creamer and sugar holders are in the upper cabinet near the Parish Hall door. Sugar, stirrers and teabags are in the cabinet or on the counter to the left of stove. Napkins are in the lower cabinet with the paper coffee cups or the drawer above. Baskets are in the upper cabinets to the right of sink.Coffee pitchers are in the cabinet over the double sink. Fill sugar, sweeteners, teabag basket and stirrers and place on trays. Fill creamers with cream and milk and place in refrigerator until after service. Before leaving for church, be sure you can hear the coffee perking! Leave church service during last hymn (before benediction).
Final set up:
Set up 4 pitchers of coffee on the brown trays.
2 on each end of long tables- one regular and one decaf
(Decaf pitchers have orange band)
Refill pitchers as needed.
Take creamers and milk out of fridge and put out on brown trays-refill as necessary. Pick-up cups and empty food trays off all tables as necessary.
After coffee hour:
Wash and return all items to cabinets. If brown ceramic mugs were used, you may use the dishwasher (see directions on dishwasher) or wash by hand. Please sweep hall and kitchen if needed. Broom in kitchen next to refrigerator. Any recycling can be placed in the third bay of the carriage house away from the church. Take all trash out to dumpster!
